Nassim Road Houses

Tanglin, Singapore

Completed 2006-2011

A staggered, multi-layered residence of myriad forms and multivalent spaces, the Nassim Road House employs modernist tenets of open, transitional spacing to extraordinary effect. Mixed-media use of various local stones and granite are used to expansive effect, and sleeping spaces on the second floor employ wooden shutters, that allow them to open fully onto the courtyard, or close for enhanced privacy. A series of cantilevered terraces and picture windows create a never-ending series of geometric juxtapositions, expanding and redefining the space through its use of light and form.
